Amazon SEO Tips

Successful Amazon product listings begin with making your product stand out from the competition. Everything from keywords to images to product description could be the difference between making a SALE and losing out to a COMPETITOR.

  • Product Listing Keywords: Amazon shoppers can only find your products if your product listing page contains all the keywords that shoppers used while searching.
    • Find relevant keywords by using Amazon’s search autocomplete i.e. when you enter a search query in the Amazon search box, autocomplete suggests search that Amazon customers use frequently. Amazon’s autocomplete is a good source of keywords based on actual real searches by Amazon shoppers.
    • Analyse your top 5 competitors listings for keywords
    • Analyse the customer reviews of your top 5 competitors for keywords and sentiment.
  • Product Listing Content: Amazon shoppers are ready to buy, it is your product listing content that persuades them to purchase.
    • Use high quality and ‘helpful’ product images and videos.
      • Ensure your images comply with Amazon image minimum requirements i.e. allowed formats, color model, resolution and size.
      • Upload photos with high resolution to allow shoppers to zoom in and out of your product images.
      • Upload photos that show the product from different angles. Because this makes shoppers feel that they have seen the whole product.
      • Upload photos showing your product in different states i.e. show and tell. For example show photos of your product in a home, or in a social setting or in use.
      • Upload photos showing the product size or proportion
      • Upload photos that highlight details that enhance the functionality of the product
      • Amazon vendors can upload 360-degree view images as well as videos.
      • A/B test to see which image attracts attention. Use Taboola Trends to explore latest image trends with high clicks >
    • Write effective product titles to encourage clicks. Include keywords if relevant in product title.
    • Use bullet points to help with readability and comprehension
    • Optimize additional product information
    • Write informative product description to help shoppers make a buying decision. Highlight the benefits and unique selling point of your product.
    • Make it readable i.e. style, grammar, spellings etc.
    • Include keywords in the product title, bullet points, description, backend keywords (Amazon seller account section), product information fields.
  • On-Amazon SEO i.e. what you can do for your product listing page using Amazon platform
    • Answer questions from Amazon shoppers. They are potential customers.
    • Respond to reviews whether good or bad.
    • A/B test your price to encourage more sales. If many products in the same category are selling for less than yours then either you will not sell as many or amazon’s algorithms will prejudge your ability to sell as many others.
  • Off-Amazon SEO i.e promoting your product pages away from the amazon website.
    • Share product photos on Social media i.e. Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and moe.
    • Encourage and remind your customers to leave reviews. Because reviews help with persuading customers to make a purchase. Often customers look at the reviews first before making a purchase.
    • Create a website or one-page website that links to your product listing page.
